This was another music inspired series. I wanted each piece to be inspired by an album, displaying and honoring 3 albums that had influence on me at the time. From left to right, the pieces were inspired by A$AP Rocky’s sophomore album AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP, his 3rd album TE$TING, and Kid Cudi’s debut studio album Man On The Moon trilogy. My objective was to take direct inspiration from the source material and honor it to the best of my ability, but make artwork that was completely separate with my own take on their art. I wanted even a general audience member who didn’t know the source material to still be able to access it, and be able to relate and level with the pieces. With this series, the primary focus is in the detail. Each detail comes from many, many scratches from different directions onto a special type of paper, to create volume and texture, composing the images shown above.
