This project was my final for a figure drawing class I took my first year of college. The prompt was to convey relationships through the figure. My initial thought was that I wanted to depict two figures embracing in a hug. I pondered social acts like hugs, and how an action can convey feelings, which inspired a lot of the imagery in this series. I was inspired by the album art for Brockhampton’s ‘GINGER,’ and the raw honesty of that album, both visually and in its lyricism. I reflected on all my relationships with all the people in my life, platonic and romantic, and conveying my feelings through an action in a largely universal way that an audience could clearly comprehend. In this series, the key elements to focus on are the sequence and the figures. The emphasis is on the people, and the feelings conveyed through their actions.
